SHANDRA MCLANE artist/owner
Shandra McLane was raised in the San Francisco Bay area and has resided in New Hampshire for the last 15 years. She holds a BFA from the University of Southern California and a M.Ed in Integrated Arts form Plymouth State University. Shandra was professionally trained at the Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington, where she has served intermittently as printshop coordinator since 1996. She is currently a professor at Plymouth State University along overseeing and working at Squam River Studios. As the recipient of the Swedish American Fund Grant, the curriculum "Engineering the Glass Seed" was developed. She has taught the STEAM based project locally (Dartmouth Thayer School of Engineering, New Hampshire), nationally (Museum of Glass, Washington), and internationally (The Glassfactory, Sweden). The course is now registered with the Arts Council of New Hampshire to be taught regularly to local communities.
Shandra is working on a long term project "Oceans In Relief". Inspired by her recent trip to the Arctic (Svalbard, Norway), she is creating a body of work representing all five oceans focusing on issues of climate change to each region. Her work will be displayed at the White Mountain Museum in January 2017.
Shandra welcomes collaboration with other artists along with the opportunity to work on private commissions. Please feel free to contact her with any questions.
